History

Flame FM Bradford began in the Year 2000 as part of an initiative to have a Christian radio station in every city in Britain.  David and Elaine Lee had long dreamed of a Christian radio outreach and this provided the ideal opportunity.

They gathered a small army of volunteers from churches and other groups, in the city and surrounding area – made up of varying ages and backgrounds they embarked on a 28 day radio broadcast.

The first broadcast was May 2000 from a tiny studio on the top floor of Woolston House in Tetley Street, Bradford city centre.  It worked so well that a larger studio was built at Jubilee Mills in North Street, but soon the station outgrew that and since March 2003 it is located Shipley, Bradford.  After several 28 day broadcasts on Bradford airwaves it was decide that the way forward would be to broadcast via the internet.

After a brief pause in broadcasts up until October 2006 Flame Fm is back…
